A British comedy about the adventures of the mining ship Red Dwarf and its crew:

• Dave Lister, the lowest-ranked crew member on the ship and now the last human alive after a radiation leak killed everyone else and extended his disciplinary stay in stasis by three million years
• Arnold Rimmer, the second-lowest ranked crew member on the ship and now a hologram... but still a "smeghead", to use Dave's wording.
• Holly, the ship's computer who has gone a bit senile.
• Cat, the village idiot left behind by the humanoid descendants of the pet who got Dave in trouble in the first place and was safely stored in the hold at the time of the accident.
