At the beginning of the story, the main character (born male) has been living a new life as a female bounty hunter for roughly two decades. Shortly after the story starts, s/he visits a genetic resequencing parlor to regain male form.

Caution: The only copy I'd actually recommend reading is the one in the Lost Library of Florestica. The others are backups just in case it goes down.
